We had the good fortune of connecting with Mrs. Sathya Callender-Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mrs. Sathya, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Scars of Survival Magazine not only impacts communities locally but globally. We do this by cultivating a safe place for survivors globally to share their stories of triumph and inspiration. Sharing your story provides mutual healing for you and/or the reader and listener. Survivors have felt a sense of freedom and relief.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others? That’s a very good question. I would have to say my creativity, my uniqueness and the fact I love to go the opposite direction from others. I’m that person when told I can’t do something I’ll show you with God it can be done because he gives us the strength. There’s a lot I’m proud of but one of many would be that I never gave up. Despite my challenges I kept pushing. It hasn’t been an easy journey by any means but well worth the process. I’ve learned to say no if it doesn’t align with me or my businesses. To make sure and delegate people to assist as we can’t do it all alone. I would love the world to know that I’m the voice for those survivors who feel they have no voice! My platform has been created and launched to be a safe place for YOUR stories to be shared globally. I’m passionate about helping others and ending domestic violence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm…Well since I love trying out new food, definitely we would have to explore some new restaurants. I’m not a drinker or smoker so not to enthused about going to a bar. I’ve never been to the Coca Cola museum so that would be a place I would love to visit with my bestfriend or best friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The answer to this will be very unique because I feel everyone who has trusted my platform with their sensitive stories should receive credit and recognition. It’s truly been an honor to have been trusted with such valuable content as someone’s story. If it wasn’t for the love and support for people globally and of course God, there wouldn’t be a publication as such.
