We had the good fortune of connecting with Akila Face and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akila, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Well sometimes you may deal with labels or production companies that do not pay you in a decent timeframe. At the beginning of my professional career as a MUA , I would be waiting 3-4 weeks before any invoice is answered. You deal with Net 30, Net 60 a lot. Sometimes, but as the years went I became aware of how to manage my invoices and business. Learning new ways to get paid upon receipt or within 24 hours or 7 days. Nothing less these days.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is True individuality and creativity. I am most proud of my brand, my art and what I do for a living. I got to where I am with consistency, prayer, understanding, faith, ambition, creative moments that made me want to go do someone makeup and shoot it . It wasn’t easy , I’ve had long nights of talking to God and the universe about my life and career and my purpose. The best is coming on a major scale even though to many I am already successful. I want the world to know I mattered, I influenced and inspired many across generations and my work As AkilaFace will prevail! But Sky’s is the limit.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love in Atlanta, So I love Visiting (Cheetah Lounge) adult lounge and this very nice restaurant in Atlanta called Dirty Rascal (Italian)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely would love to recognize my friend Kendra Horton & Assad Tyler for always believing in me and always encouraging me. On my website www.akilaface.com I have a Artist Appreciation catalog for all the people who have inspired me in my time.
