We had the good fortune of connecting with Joey Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Back in 2010 when Joey Wallace Photography was initially launched, it was thought to be a semi-professional brand, in which I was able to practice a hobby I always loved. Shortly after an impressive success, I, along with my newly acquired team, started to expand and quickly became one of Atlanta’s most beloved wedding photographers.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Wedding photography requires an incredible amount of attention to details and self-control, and this is why you want to make sure your photographer has a lengthy experience regardless of how much you like their style. My personal shooting style will always be different for every couple because my job is not just to create beautiful images, but most importantly is to document people’s precious moments while keeping in mind the way they invison their wedding day to look like. I’m not an artist, I’m your artist.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We all are very lucky to live here in Atlanta, a beautiful diverse city with a spot for every taste; from the numerous parks with colorful seasoned trees and lakes, to the lively Atlanta streets with street lights and rooftops backdropped by the city skylines. We can never run out of beautiful spots to shoot at, and that is why we ask our couples for a list of their favorite engagement photos, and then based on their selection we will suggest a few locations for them to choose from.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will always be thankful for those who have given me the opportunity to documented their lives’ most precious moments; so, a special shoutout to our Atlanta’s beautiful brides and grooms and their wonderful families who invited us into their homes and had filled our images with their contagious smiles, tearful vows and speeches, and their joyful un-choreographic dancing moves.
