Meet Amia Jackson | Visionary, Author, Motivational Speaker and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amia Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks play a major role in my life and career. I understand the importance of risk. Risk helps me truly discover who Amia Jackson is. If you don’t allow yourself to try new ideas and take risks, there’s a chance you will stay stagnant in life. Risk allows you to gain more faith in yourself and your beliefs. Faith often leads to confidence. Having confidence in yourself and your dreams is one of the most important traits a person can develop.
When I left my hometown, New York City, I was afraid to fail. Growing up and losing a lot of my friends to gun violence traumatized me at an early age. I wanted to elevate my life and I knew relocating was my best option. Moving was not just about risk; it was an escape from my reality. Even after moving to Atlanta I still experienced obstacles, but obstacles did not stop me and will not stop me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
10K dreams is a brand that first started off as my album title for a marketing strategy in 2015 (New York City). Later I realized that my brand was inspiring and motivating people suffering from depression and anxiety worldwide. It became more than a clothing line, it became a movement, intentionally crafted fashion. I knew it was something special after I had a stranger tattoo 10K Dreams on their finger. 10K dreams represent people chasing their dreams; especially in the black community. The brand’s uplifting message separates itself from other clothing and entertainment companies. 10K Dreams directly impacted people in need of mental support.
Diving into Amia Jackson: I am where I am today because I never gave up. My mother had me when she was a teenager and my father was absent from my life. Growing up I didn’t realize how the absence of my father impacted my life until I had to deal with my trauma head-on. These factors could have been my “downfall” but I didn’t allow them to define me. I had to decide if I wanted to be a statistic or use my trials as motivation to move forward in life. My challenges later became my strength. Nothing in life is going to be easy. Life is a learning journey all the way to the end.
When the world hears the name “Amia Jackson” I want them to understand I was on a mission for God. I want people to know I left it all on the table. The world traveler and author. Think “Fearless” when you hear my name. The rockstar and risk taker. Amia Jackson the motivational speaker and Artist. I want my Art to motivate and inspire others to keep pushing and be proud of what they have created. 10K Dreams is to remind the world that time is on your side and even when you feel like it’s the end, you’re just getting started.
In Closing-Always remember, the mind is a powerful weapon. In order to change your reality you must change how you think and react to things. Don’t allow anyone or anything to control who you are. Heal and manifest the life you desire. In my words “You are a reflection of your thoughts”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to any events I am hosting. I am also an MC and when anyone is around me a good time is guaranteed! If my friend is visiting from NYC I would take them to all the food places that are not in my home town such as waffle house and Old Lady Gang. I love the movies too, so most likely we are going to catch a movie. Night light- We will go to Edgewood (in the car ride we are listening to afro-beats).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, all praises must be given to the most high, God. I’ve selected many people in my life and given them recognition, and completely disregarded who deserves the credit and that is God. In today’s world, it’s “corny” to have a relationship with God (at least where I come from). I have seen my life without God and it was a challenging journey. God deserves all the praise/shoutouts for all of my progress and success in life. Humans fall short, God doesn’t…
