We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Brinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mia, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from South Florida and am a first-generation college graduate and professional, which is a loaded statement. It comes with a lot of weight, burden, and responsibility. For me, this also meant, I had a lack of guidance in how to navigate the corporate world, and corporate culture, and had no one’s history to lean on in making wisdom-based decisions. Additionally, I had no clue what to do when someone stole my ideas or how to negotiate my pay or how to react when I got passed up for promotion or someone to help me understand if job titles really matter, or to even know when it’s time to move on to the next place.

And now as an Executive, I’ve spent the last 22 years going through my own self-improvement journey and have implemented key principles that have allowed me to succeed in life. All of this has made me passionate about paving the way for others. What I know for sure is that success for me is being the solution, the mentor, and the guide that I needed along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started in Corporate America naïve with the thought that I will work hard, and will climb the ladder. I was thrilled to be here but then slowly learned—getting my foot in the door wasn’t enough. Hard work alone wasn’t going to be enough. I had to learn the secrets to navigating the corporate battlefield and landscape.

I also realized I had to take control of my career and over the last 8 years of my 20 + year career I have helped others do the same.

I have helped businesses and individuals from different industries like Healthcare, Sports & Entertainment, Government, Diversity & Inclusion consulting and more!

As a Performance Coach I help high achievers maximize their potential, navigate complex situations by providing tools and strategies that empower them to own their future.

I read the Big Leap and that book has had a significant impact on the way I show up in the world.  Specifically, how he discussed limiting beliefs, has helped me accurately process my feelings and break through self-imposed barriers. Additionally, he mentioned operating in your zone of genius which put me on a quest of tapping into what I do at an excellent level with a low level of effort.  This book was the other reason I started my business to coach and help others elevate.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I live in Atlanta so there is always something to do! We would definitely go to some of my favorite restaurants and some of my favorite cuisines are Southern, Caribbean, Thai, and Tacos lol. I love to be active so we would spend some time outside on some walking trails or enjoying Piedmont Park. And love great lounges that have afro beats, great food, and a great vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom has played the biggest role in my journey. I have learned so much from her, through her, and because of her. She has been a constant force in my life and I am forever grateful for her sacrifice of love.
