We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilee Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilee, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from a small town in northwest Georgia called Cartersville. My family worked and bought the land my family now owns; known as Robinson Loop. I was very fortunate as a child to see what land ownership looked like and to get firsthand insight on how to live off the land. Entrepreneurship runs in my family as well and I had great role models to look up to in reference to running my own business. All these aspects combined, groomed what Rooted in the Loop is now. The land my family owns is the ROOT of my business. I aim for Rooted in the Loop to be a space where the entire family can reference what healthy eating looks like and ways to be more self-sufficient and sustainable. As cliché as it may sound my business brings my entire upbringing full circle, defines who I am today and why I stand so firm within my business. Family, community impact, sustainability and a healthier lifestyle for all are all messages instilled in me as a child and messages I aim to instill in the individuals I touch with Rooted.

What should our readers know about your business?
Rooted in the Loop is a vegan food service business that aims to make vegan and plant-based eating attainable to all! We launched in January of 2019 and we’ve been bringing seasoned and flavored vegan eats ever since. Rooted in the Loop is unique because it has a great balance between vegan junk food and plant-based eating, so whatever level you find yourself on Rooted can get you right.

Nothing worth having is ever easy and owning and operating a business is no different. The struggle is real but hearing and seeing the people Rooted impacts on a daily basis keeps us going. It is an on-going learning process. I make sure any time a challenge arises I stay as open minded as possible and tell myself a challenge is just another way to find a new solution. I am very blessed to have people around me to guide me through the ins and outs of business whenever I may get stuck but research and google are REAL life savers! I have learned a lot along the way but the most important lesson I have learned is how important forming meaningful relationships are. I want the world to know that Rooted in the Loop is here to bring you amazing vegan eats and even greater vibes and that we want to facilitate a come up; a come up to a better and healthier you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
They could start the morning off with some Rooted eats- Chickpea scramble, herb roasted potatoes, and fresh squeezed OJ for the breakfast win. Then stop for a caramel apple cider from Unity Grounds, and head over to Pine Mountain for a morning hike. After the hike they would have to stop at Café Sundae off West Ave in Cartersville- the smoothies are bomb and there is a plethora of options for everyone. The afternoon could be spent in the historic Summer Hill district at the Summer Hill Community Market shopping with local businesses and filling up on good vibes. Ellis and Quinn Cafe, To-Go Vegan, and Fruitful Life would be go-to spots for lunch throughout the week I would reccomend. For a chill night in a nice home cooked recipe provided by HerBlackDiaryTV would be a great way to end the day. It would be a must to go shopping and luckily, we have so many dope brands within our community (LXX-VII, Blessed&Black, Young CEO, Morgan Lareine, HustleCustoms, LostLove, BrassDroppers, and Exit 288). There are always so many events being put on by our amazing non-profits like Circle of Advancement, Love Travels, and Gap Fillers I know there would be enough entertainment to go around. I would also highly recommend visiting the significant historical attractions in Cartersville, including the Noble Wheeler Museum, Bench by the Road, and the Etowah Indian Mounds. They could cap off the week with a live listening session by the 4Korners. Jazz fusion and good vibes are always a great way to end a week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and the entire Cartersville community have been a HUGE support system and have always given me that extra PUSH. They continuously speak life into me and my business, Shout out to 288!
