We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Vann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think the one thing about my business that outsiders are unaware of is the amount of continuous education that is required of beauty professionals by not only ourselves to stay relevant and continue to draw in customers, but also the by our local government to keep our licenses active.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a licensed Master Cosmetologist, who specializes in hair care, hair extensions and education. I feel my love for education and making sire my clients know how important it is for them to not only receive a great service in salon, but also to have the proper techniques and knowledge to maintain it at home.
The relationship between hairstylist and client/guest is symbiotic. We are one. Without the other, none of this works.

I went to Cosmetology school when I was 19 and studied to receive my license via my State Board of Cosmetology. After working my way through various salons, I settled in on the Boutique salon setting. I love how I can provide my guests with that personal one on one experience.

It wasn’t an easy road. I had a lot of losses. Financially and emotionally. However, I feel those challenges are necessary in some cases so that you can grow from them.
I’ve learned not to cut and run when it gets hard. I’ve learned how to ask for help and to give it when needed. I’ve learned that people want to be heard and seen. No matter what their station is in life.
My goal as a Professional Hairdresser is to offer an environment that builds trust, reliability and exceptional service each and every time my guest hits that door.

I want readers to know that Hairdressers are NOT what you see on social media. Professional Hairdressers are caring, intelligent, innovative, daring, ready to listen and care about your time. We are here to SERVE. Sometimes, we may not be a match, but there is never a time where disrespect is allowed. We love what we do! You’ll see that in a true beauty professional.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I would definitely take my friend on a TikTok tour of Atlanta! Wherever TIKTOK says to eat, drink, sleep and party si where we’re going!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out everyone who I worked with over the years in corporate and private salons. They helped shaped me in ways such as business management, customer service skills, running and maintaining a Fortune 500 company, team building, retail development, family, comraderie, salon management, and so much more!
