We had the good fortune of connecting with Antar Tidwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antar, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel as though risk taking plays a key role into future progression, and setting yourself apart from your competition. However, I try my hardest to research as much as possible which in return increases my potential for success. I would definitely say that I take calculated risks for sure.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Career wise I am definitely a jack of all trades. Although I own a record label, I still manage to pursue other lanes outside of the music industry. I am currently a data center engineer, and I have been in this career field for 7+ years. What sets me apart from others is my desire to keep learning more. The fact that I am not very complacent, and I pay extreme attention to detail. It definitely wasn’t easy getting to where I am today. It took a lot of self motivation, as well as self discipline. Some of the lessons I’ve learned over the years are to not burn bridges, because you can still need those relationships later in life. Another lesson would be the fact that I’ve learned how to be more outgoing and proactive towards helping/training my peers. By taking this approach can really change your peer’s overall perception of you, and this can open up new doors for you as well. I want the world to know that no matter how less fortunate your life started off, you are still in control of your own destiny. Speak your success into existence, create realistic goals that you can execute, and manifest the life you’ve always dream about. Don’t be afraid to change the cycle!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Chicago I would definitely take them to STK Steakhouse, Harold’s Chicken restaurant, The navy pier for a boat tour, firework show, and to see our beautiful skyline, and I would take my best friend to party downtown at one of our many extravagant nightclubs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out a company called “Salute Incorporated”. This is a company that specializes in hiring/training of military veterans and their spouses. This company played a major part in my career transformation. I feel as though this could be a great starting point for military soldiers returning home from deployments and launching new career paths. Big shout out to their CEO “Mr Jason Okroy”!
