We had the good fortune of connecting with Collin Enstad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Collin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start my business, Gosto Productions, because what I’ve been doing my whole professional career is the entire process of creating a video from start to finish. I can talk to a client to figure out what they need in their business. Often it is simple as brand awareness. Other times it can be things such as internal employee training. From there I gather the team and things needed for the production, shoot it, and then bring it back to the editing room. I’ve been involved in various steps of the process throughout the years on others’ projects, but what I’ve been missing over the past ten years is a brand that my body of work can be put behind. Creating a video production company was the logical next step in the evolution of my career!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always strived to make the most engaging content possible. Even if the topic is dirt dry boring I try to find a way to at least make it look extra pretty!
That’s really the challenge of video, especially advertising related. How do you stand out? I’ve been working in TV/film for many years now and seen some top guys do amazing things. I’m constantly on the look out for what these top guys are doing to innovate, and how I can incorporate those techniques into my video and ad strategies.
It’s not been easy to be in the creative world for 10 years. It is most definitely a feast or famine situation. One year I’ll have very little jobs and the next I’ll be swamped! The hard part is to keep that volume going!
Although I am relatively young, I believe this helps me in the fact that I grew up with social media. I saw Myspace in my middle school years, and facebook was a powerhouse in high school, and then instagram though college. These platforms are second nature to me and I know what goes best on each platform. I also want the world to know that Gosto Productions and myself will be around for a long time, and are and will continue to be on the forefront of video production!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I mean, if you don’t stop at the aquarium, what are you doing?
The South Palisades trail with the bamboo is also something that feels out of this world.
Fogo de Chao is a top tier restaurant. Unlimited delicious meat, what more could you ask for?
A stroll through Piedmont Park is also a necessity!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It may sound cliche but I cannot thank my wife, Andressa, enough. When I met her my motivation for doing my own projects at the time was just gone. She really has believed in me so much and without her I truly don’t know where I’d be in life right now!
