We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis, what inspires you?
The things that inspire are the music and sounds I grew up on and the music I listen to today .

Growing up listening to Notorious B.I.G , Big Pun , Big L , Nas & other legends like that really molded my production style that you hear today .

Also being big on soul music from the 60-70’s helped me find some of the best samples to make some of my best pieces of work .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think when it comes to my music production , I put my own sauce on it as they say , I’ve only been producing for only a year and some change and through my journey so far I’ve learned so much from so many great producers and artist , Honestly it wasn’t easy getting to where I am today . It took a lot of frustrating nights , late nights and just hours working at my craft .

The lesson that music production taught me is that DETAIL is everything and you’ll never realize how much it probably took to make some of the best songs you listen to on a daily basis. Without attention to detail, these songs would not be what they were.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First Off ….. Shoutout To The Bro JAE MARTIN . Very drop individual I consider him like family . If it wasn’t for him this wouldn’t even be possible .

Shoutout To Black House Records ! JAMIL , COACH & STAXX . That’s the SQUAD right there and I hope y’all stay tapped in for what we got comin.

JAE HUSSLE & MADO . The RIG ! Two brothers that started with me since I started producing and they been with me every step of the way .

My bros Xavier & Syer … dope producers as well , have taught me so much and they really make me step my game up and proceed to be better and better as time goes on . Appreciate y’all man !
