We had the good fortune of connecting with Na’Chelle Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Na’Chelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started taking my crafts seriously in 2020 at the height of Covid. While stores and businesses were locked down people needed many things that my fiancé or I could make with our hands. From crocheted graduation outfits to baked treats we made just about everything. This made me know that I could make a good income from skills I acquired through my child hood.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The way I started out as a crochet artist was by accidentally walking into a crochet class at my local library 10 years ago and I just sat down and started learning. A year or 2 later my crochet instructor resigned from teaching to help with her new grandchild. I then took at upon myself to take the craft further and continue perfecting it. It was a big challenge to continue learning with out the “hands-on” support from Ms. Blanche. Whom was my instructor. I quickly learned that it would be more difficult to learn from tutorial videos, but it wasn’t impossible. Along the way I learned that I can teach my self almost any quick with diligence and dedication. I want the world to know that they can do anything they stick their minds to!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my Fiancé Sidney Yaphit for encouragement in every step of every goals I’ve had thus far. He has been my back bones through the last 4 years and I don’t know what I’d ever do without his love, dedication and support
