We had the good fortune of connecting with Timira Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timira, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Planning well starts with figuring out what you want and writing it down in detail. It’s important to have clarity on your definition of success. This is the foundation for your plan. Always develop good habits You can have big dreams, great goals, and still fail. The third key of success requires you to turn your goals into actions. Repeated actions in the right direction become helpful habits. And once you form the right habits, you create momentum.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First and foremost I am a published author. My book is called “ Black Country Gal “. It is about the bad and good outcomes of growing up in a small town or cities. The book have gotten a lot of attention especially from the 229 area’s. It’s been the “talk “ and gossip for weeks. My book became published back in March and I had a lot of support but also I had some people criticize it. I think that was the challenge, dealing negativity when it comes to my book because I discuss in the book what other people are afraid to say about small towns or small cities. Writing the book was easy but bringing it out into the world was not easy because you never know what type of reaction your going to get. I got a lot of positive feedback. I am very brave, outspoken and ambitious I think that what makes me stand out from most the fact that I toke a chance and was brave enough to speak about it in a book. I been reading books since a child, I knew some day someone in my family would become a publish author. Just didn’t know it would be me. I am truly proud of myself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my Bestfriend to the Botanical Garden. There’s lots to see there, including the Lou Glenn Children’s Garden, the Edible Garden, the Tropical High Elevation House and one of the few remaining mature hardwood forests in Atlanta. Plus, you can’t miss a pass through the Fuqua Orchid Center, which features a variety of unique high-elevation orchids never grown before in the Southeast. The garden hosts the annual Garden Lights, Holiday Nights extravaganza in winter. It’s a beautiful and great place to visit and check out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate Amazon publishing for approving my book and letting me use there platform to market my book. I would like to credit to my mother Carnita Cham, my husband Dequan Neloms for pushing me to accomplish my dreams and for supporting me.
