We had the good fortune of connecting with Danae Moya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am an ex-corporate business strategist turned into a mindful entrepreneur.
I met my co-founder while living in Europe. He is an experienced stem cell scientist and published author & co-author in scientific journals. His biomedical vision of making stem cell technology accessible to the public resonated with me from day one.
About 10yrs ago I almost lost my mother to cancer; a traumatic experience that reshaped my worldview. So when I learned about the power of stem cell science, it seemed like a meaningful opportunity to use my skill set to make an actual difference.
I am currently co-building a unique innovative consumer biotech with a mission to help people make the best informed decisions about their health by using their own stem cells. Think of it like a weather forecast, but for your health.
My goal as COO of DelphiStem is to create awareness of the life-saving potential of stem cell science and empower people to use our technology in order to feel protected, carefree & optimistic about their (and their family’s) health & future. Everyone should be able to focus on leading and enjoying a fulfilling life, not worrying about getting sick.
At DelphiStem we believe everyone deserves access to the future of stem cell technology, today.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
DelphiStem is a consumer centric biotech with a mission to help people prevent life threatening diseases by using their stem cells.
We started building DelphiStem with a very clear vision in mind: to empower people to make the best-informed decisions about their health. Our ultimate goal is to offer people preventive (ie. early cancer detection) & personalized medical solutions based on their own cells.
What sets us apart from others is how we’ve framed our business model, we are a “people-first” mindset company, and the values with which we operate reflect that.
You rarely hear about consumer biotech companies, and we want to disrupt that. We believe that everyone deserves to have access to life-saving technology, and our goal is to make it easy & directly accessible to the end consumer.
\Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always encourage friends and visitors to go to Beltline, whether it’s for a walk or a meal or drink. From Krog Street Market to Ponce City Market, the options are endless. I have a soft spot for Inman Park, I also love taking friends to Vinoteca wine bar, they host wine tasting themed events with beautiful storytelling and live music on the weekends, which is always a highlight.
Some of my favorites are:
– Minero’s at Ponce City Market, their drinks & fish tacos are delicious.
– Delbar in Inman Park, is on top of my list, the cocktails & food are always on point!
– Barcelona Wine Bar, Inman Park or Howell Mill Rd, yummy tapas and wine
– Alma Cocina Buckhead, I highly recommend the fried avocado dish
– Vas Kouzina in Roswell, I really miss Greek food and Vas has been a favorite;
from the authentic menu to the iconic blue & white ambience it’s the closest thing to feeling like home!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As they say, “it takes a village”! My shout-out goes to:
– My family, which has instilled in me important principles and values from a very young age, while empowering me to pursue my dreams throughout my life. I’ve learned the value of hard work, consistency, and resilience through how my family leads their professional and personal lives.
– My husband, who encourages me, embraces and celebrates all that I am and everything that I bring to the table, both in our personal as well as our professional lives.
– My friends, mentors & co-workers I’ve collaborated with throughout my career; I’m grateful for all the lessons, challenges, and accomplishments I’ve experienced with them during my corporate career, as they have equipped me with invaluable wisdom and insight as I transition into my entrepreneurial journey.
