We had the good fortune of connecting with Charnnette Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charnnette, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to not only be seen on Earth as material gain, but also seen and felt in the difference I can make in people’s lives, I want my legacy to be such a strong, undeniably positive energy that lives on for generations. I want the world to remember me as a humanitarian, a multifaceted creative, and as an infinite source of divine love and inspiration. I want my life to represent hope for the future of the human collective, hope that the dawn is here. We all just have to step into the light.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been an artist/creative for my whole life, so it’s not hard for me to tap into that side of myself. Granted I do have creative blocks, but it’s surely a part of me that never strays far. However, there was (and still is) difficulty in transitioning a passion into a business. I’m proud of where I’ve gotten so far, but I will say the hardest part is comparing where you are in your creative journey to others who are seemingly ahead of you. Im still currently overcoming these challenges through having patience with myself and not rushing inspiration or my work to appease others or social algorithms. I’ve learned to appreciate the old ways of creating art, which is when it took months to even years to complete a final piece. I just want to world to know that my art is a direct reflection of what I feel and see in my spirit. In a way it’s a portal between the unseen and our physical world, and I would like to be the bridge between that gap.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to take a friend on a city boat ride and visit all of the major tourist areas. I am definitely into some underground places as well, those spots that you just hear from word of mouth. Of course, we would also have to dine at the best restaurants as well. In my opinion the best thing to do is to travel, discover new places and cross beautiful things off of a bucket list!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many people, art pieces, animals, books and movies that has inspired me on my journey. I’m able to find a gem in almost everywhere that I look. However, I would give a special shout out to my high school teacher Mr. Kelley. He truly impacted me in my early teens as far as nurturing my inner child in the classroom, pushing me to continue as a writer and a creator, and was all around one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. I can definitely say I wouldn’t be the same person had I not met him.
