We had the good fortune of connecting with UnoTheOutCast and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi UnoTheOutCast, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was in college I was studying to be an accountant. During my sophomore year I was in accounting 2 and had a test I was going to study for. When I opened my notes I realized that there was only drawings of clothes. It was at that moment I decided to become a fashion designer and photographer. I always had a passions for those two careers but I was hesitant to jump into a creative field. This was due to the uncertainty of the field, knowing I would have to prove myself in those respected industries. Having the creative freedom and getting to change the industries through my visions is the reason I wanted to pursue photography.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would have to say that the way I edit/shoot photos sets me apart from others. When it comes to editing photos, I have a very unique style that looks identical to film. I got to where I’m at today by building amazing relationships with fellow creators in Atlanta. It was definitely challenging getting into this industry. I really had to develop a unique style that would in turn separate me from other photographers in Atlanta. Hard work pays off and if you don’t believe in yourself then you can’t expect others to believe in you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Typically when people come to visit, I like to take them to Little Five Points. I enjoy taking people there because of the creative atmosphere and how different it feels from the rest of Atlanta. When it comes to activities, I enjoy going to the high art museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the support of my parents, family and girlfriend, I wouldn’t have taken the leap into this industry. They are the reason I work hard everyday. I owe everything to them!
When it comes to important creators that influences me, there are two that come to mind. The first is Virgil Abloh, he was the reason I become obsessed with the fashion industry at a young age. My second inspiration is Gunner Stahl, he opened my eyes to photography. Without those two individuals I’m not sure I would be were I’m at today.
