We had the good fortune of connecting with Latasha McAlpine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latasha, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I give 10% of all sales from both my brands to organizations that help victims of human trafficking. Hopefully, as I expand and grow my business, I will be able to give an even greater percentage.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I now own two brands. Valeria McAlpine, a luxury fashion brand that includes fine jewelry and shoes, and Run Toward Goliath, an inspirational brand that includes books and apparel. I’m pretty excited that both my brands can now be found in the New Black Wallstreet Market located in Stonecrest, Georgia. My jewelry line is being sold in the gift/souvenir shop and my Run Toward Goliath items are being sold in the Tree of Knowledge bookstore inside the market.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting the city we’d definitely do brunch, because I LOVE brunch lol. I’d take them to Toast, Atlanta Breakfast Club, Breakfast Boys or Breakfast at Barney’s. We’d hang out at Apt 4B, Ponce City Market, the Beltline or one of the malls. If it’s spring/summer, there might even be some type of festival in town that we would hit up. Additionally, there’s probably some type of summer event or concert happening somewhere because this is Atlanta;) And of course, I’d take them to the New Black Wallstreet Market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As always, it comes back to my mom. Honestly, moreso than any other person in my life, I can always count on her to support what I do. It started as a child and has carried over into my adult life. I appreciate her consistency and willingness to support me, even if, she may not fully understand my vision. I’m extremely blessed to have her in my life.
