We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Epps and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing about my industry in property and asset management that many are not aware of is; you have to be well versed and willing to do every job that you outsource or hire employees to do. At the end of the day, my investors I manage properties for are looking at me for answers, 90% of them live in different states or countries – so when something does not get done because someone or something goes wrong – I am the one they that has to step in and handle it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started The Epps & Aubrey Group in 2018 after leaving my job of 6 years managing a 120 unit apartment community in Buckhead. I had just purchased my first home and wanted more for myself and my daughter. Being the risk taker that I am, I quit my 9-5 and landed my first investor who had over 300 single-family properties throughout Atlanta. 4 years later, I signed another investor and thereafter several more followed. I was able to diversify my management portfolio by meeting an investor from China that had a commercial plaza he needed managed. That soon led to me adding a $.5.8 million dollar property to my repertoire. From there, I wanted to take a leap in the direction of the film industry because being a former actress; I knew that when actors come to a city or state to film for a long period of time, they don’t stay in a hotel they have short term housing.

I was able to connect with an investor that had a private portfolio of high-end furnished homes that were solely designated for actors and film crew. The investor entrusted my company to manage the entire portfolio which in turn led to me working with a number of A-list celebrities.

Many always ask me how I was able to go from single family homes to commercial properties and now the film industry. It was not an easy thing to accomplish however, I do not scare easily and that has always worked to my advantage. Betting on myself is what I have adopted as my rule of thumb. I first seek God, and then go for whatever He allows me to accomplish. Guidance from him and a great business advisor have helped me tremendously along the way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start the day off we would head to the High Museum to view some of the new exhibits. Currently, the Obama Portraits are there. One of my favorite things that I have started doing is going to eat at Apt 4B in Atlanta. The food there is amazing and so is the ambiance. Later, we would head over to the lounge at Hotel Atlanta for live music and champagne.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My drive, dedication and resilience is all because of my 6 year old daughter Aubrey and my 2 year old son August.
