We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Devoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was fresh out of college and didn’t have any experience in film or internships to stand on. I was in my 20′ and did every single job from customer service to detailing cars. I took a job working for Carvana where I was “told” I’d be a vehicle photographer based on my background, fast forward weeks later I’m cleaning lint out of seat cushion (nothing wrong with) but I didn’t believe I went to college 4 years to be doing that. That day sitting in my car I made up my mind that if no film company was going to hire me I was going to hire myself, a mantra I live by now. With the guideance of God and support of my mother, my girlfriend (now fiance) I’ve pushed Nightwise Studios/Silhouette Bird Production to every year.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Film is a portal, a vessel that can transport us back to a memory or to another place. With our company we seek to capture these moments to take our clients back to that passage of time that stirs their emotions. With our wedding coverage this is especially true because memories fade and lose details but with our films we capture the moments that couples didn’t even realize happened on their big day. Along the way our experience taught many lesson and challenges when it came to over expectations vs budget, or circumstances that forces us to create fast solutions on the spot.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We definitely would have to take trip to the IFLY Indoor Skydiving facility. Haven’t felt more excitment doing any activity than that. After that we have to checkout some of Atlanta’s well known landmarks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This section is definitely my mom and fiance’. My mom has always been my biggest support. Outside of when I was in junior high school and told her I was going to be in the NBA, safe to say she was wise in not getting my hope up because that growth spurt never came lol. My mom supported me, mentor me, and had my back to where I could take the chance to bet on the business and my abilities. My fiance’ is literally is my uplift and partner in every step of the way. Khayla has been and continues to be my motivator and anchor that helps me not only on shoots but in ways to tell stories with the films we make. She is truly give me perspective creatively.
