We had the good fortune of connecting with Jhazmin Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jhazmin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is a huge part of the entrepreneurial journey! As an entrepreneur you’re faced with many decisions. Let’s be honest, we don’t always have the answers, so we consult our family, friends, & sometimes those who we consider to be mentors for advice. I came to a realization a few years ago, a lot of entrepreneurs (today) are in very unique positions because the ones we are consulting for advice have never run a business in this era! Business looks different 20 years ago, so the “blueprint” could look different as well.

Once I came to this realization, I knew that a lot of risk taking would be apart of my journey! I allow the space for a family, friend, or mentor to give me advice THE BEST WAY THEY KNOW HOW, but I know that at the end of the day I listen to my gut! If things don’t work out because of a particular decision, I never see it as a lost only a lesson to take into the next phase of business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Jhazmin,

I am a professional premium bridal mua and esthetician of 11 years and I am also a bridal mua educator!

I am most proud of where my business is today and the growth that I have experienced as a business owner and an artist. There have been many challenges with learning how to navigate a business, making mistakes, having trial and error moments, wanting to quit, the pressure of your family looking to your “success”. The most important thing I have learned in my journey is that COMPARISON KILLS! We live in a time where only good moments are put in front of us and it sends a lot of us into depression and feeling like we’re doing something wrong because we’re not where we want to be!

When there’s so much beauty in growing and learning from where you currently are. Knowing that your journey won’t look like the next but every experience you have will only help you grow and help the person behind you who may feel or be going through some of those same things!

My brand is it’s authentic self! It’s crazy, it’s funny, it’s educational, and it’s relatable! It’s a story where things didn’t come easy but hard work and consistency prevailed!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m pretty fresh to Atlanta myself lol but If my friends we’re in town, we would definitely have a week of fun, food, dancing, and drinks!

I would take them places like, APT 4B, Bellyard Hotel, and Kitchen Six just t name a few!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout some amazing woman who have been there along the journey with me and who have kept me empowered, encouraged, and grounded!

Terri Watson, Leanna McAlpin, Ty Hubert, Jasmine Thomas, and my mother Wonya Mitchell. I really appreciate you ladies and I am so grateful to have in by my side rooting for me every set of the way!
