We had the good fortune of connecting with Murilo & Christine Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Murilo & Christine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We want people to be able to see Boarding Pass Coffee as an experience. We call our customers “coffee travelers” since our brand is focused on the intersection of coffee and travel. While coffee is a part of many people’s every day lives, our mission is to give people the experience of coffee – using all if their senses to consume it, learning about where it comes from and also learning more about their own tastes. You’d be surprised how many people say they only like dark roasts but, in a blind tasting, fall in love with the light roast. Those moments make it worth it for us.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Murilo: My father Reginaldo for sure – he taught me about patience and persistence. He was an entrepreneur and from the start even when every card was stacked against him. He overcame a lot – including a lot of ups and downs when I was growing up – to get where he is today. And he modeled that hard work ethic to me. He is my inspiration and mentor.
