We had the good fortune of connecting with Zabain and Keisha Gibson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zabain and Keisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process with starting our own business was not too complicated. We always were entrepreneur minded individuals. The first thing that came to mind was creating generational wealth and a legacy for our kids. With both of us being in the corporate world, we knew that owning your own was the beginning.
What should our readers know about your business?
The recent toilet paper shortage of the COVID-19 pandemic was the key inspiration for Triumph Tissue. In all transparency, we were extremely shocked by the absence of what we believe to be a critical hygiene product in a global health crisis. And, in our minds, what was available was horribly low quality and ineffective.
On top of realizing that existing toilet tissue lacked in terms of quality and accessibility, the pandemic reinforced the idea that we cannot depend on major corporations to prioritize our health and happiness. Disappointed by their unwillingness to pivot to effectively serve their customers during a time of extreme need, we were inspired to create a reliable, forward-thinking option people could trust to deliver excellence through thick and thin.
Once we decided to truly pursue the idea, we began to study the toilet tissue industry and realized it lacked a sense of creative and ethnic diversity. As a black couple, we knew we could bring a new unique perspective to an otherwise stagnant market. Going forward, we are excited to build a team of diverse talent that represents the many distinct backgrounds of this country. Each day, we wake up motivated to show the world how Triumph Tissue takes toilet paper to a whole new level.
