We had the good fortune of connecting with Chakiese Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chakiese, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had been speaking on starting my own business for awhile. I was nervous, and just kept putting it off. After the pandemic started, I decided to stop making excuses and go for it! I now have two businesses! I want my kids to know that you can do whatever you put your mind to, despite what you may be going through, or what others may say!! I want them to be proud of their mommy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, I bartend events, parties etc. I also do pop ups. I create different drinks for my customers. Everybody is use to the same normal drinks. So I try to step out of the box sometimes! I also opened a lingere boutique shortly after I started my bartending business. I recently created my own line which is called “Docs Bedroom💕”. Docs Bedroom actually piggy backs off of “Drunk Off Chakiese”! Starting my business wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. It’s actually keeping it going that’s the hard part. Some days are better than others, but that’s apart of owning your own business. And honestly I wouldn’t change anything.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me it depends on the season. I love sports, so I would always recommend a Falcons or Hawks game! Maybe even the Braves. Comedy shows or sip and paints are fun. I love to eat, and try different places, so I could name so many different restaurants lol. Midtown is nice and also Truist Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shot my family out!! They have been supportive from day one!! Whether its purchasing a product from me, purchasing things I need for my business, helping at events they have been there! My boyfriend has also been there since day one. From motivation (whether I want to hear it or not lol), helping at events, he’s been my personal bodyguard! And my kids!!! They also help me every way possible!
