Meet Kandra Lumpkin | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kandra Lumpkin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kandra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was freedom. The ability to work for myself and not having to clock in working 40+ hours a week chasing someone else’s dream didn’t make sense to me. Being a wife and a mother of three, I understood the importance of my time. I want to spend it on things and people that mattered most.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Virgin Hair Connect LLC, we sell a wide range of hair extensions from top manufacturing companies around the world. We offer goods and services at affordable prices at the same time meeting customer’s expectations; it is the objective of my business. My mission is to provide customers with hair extensions that are unique and long-lasting to ensure a steady flow of the demand.
I think what sets me apart from others is knowing my products. I wear my products so I know what the hair does and doesn’t do. Staying ahead has much to do with how you market yourself. Also, having great customer service; Being polite, having good listening skills, and demonstrating gratefulness. I am most proud of my product, because my main priority is how the customer feels after the monetary investment they made is worthwhile. I am most excited to continue to grow.
How I got to where I am today, I would say perseverance is how I got where I am today. Entrepreneurship comes with a lot of ups and downs but I had to keep going. I was determined to keep moving forward despite the challenges and pressure I faced. Was it easy? Absolutely not, but it has been worth it! How I overcame the challenges that I faced was by learning from them, finding a solution, and keeping my focus on my long-term goals. Lessons I’ve learned along the way 1. Have patience 2. Be your biggest motivator 3. Remain focused 4. Keep going no matter what, because not many people will believe in your vision. What I want the world to know about me is that I treat others the way I want to be treated. Respect people as you wish to be respected and talk to people the way you want to be spoken to; just overall being a good person.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, for starters, Flying Biscuit for some breakfast and mimosas! Then, we would go downtown for some shopping and for lunch we would visit The Place. Lastly, we would visit my favorite spa Urban Sanctuary for some relaxation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, I would like to shoutout my husband (Karim Lumpkin) and our amazing 3 children. He literally encouraged me to get started. He has always supported, assisted, and cheered me on when it came to my business. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself and for being there for me when I needed you most. Truly, I am blessed to have you in my life. Also, I would like to shoutout my mom (my biggest Cheerleader) and my sister for being there for me when I needed you. I would just like to say thank you for being the absolute BEST mom in the world! You are my biggest fan and you are always cheering me on. I am so grateful to have your love and support in all that I do. From a young age, you have always said that I can become whatever I set my mind to.
