We had the good fortune of connecting with Zoul’tis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zoul’tis, what matters most to you?
Honesty is a value that was instilled in me during my childhood. Honesty is what makes you trustworthy, reliable and allows one to observe everything around us with clarity.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Making the decision to focus on my dreams of being an independent artist has been about having 100% control over the direction of my music, from the marketing, to artwork, writing, release deadlines, and collaborating with other independent artists for the purpose of getting my music heard and transferring those followers to fans.
I’ve recently become a bi-coastal artist in an effort to continue growing my brand professionally in the social media arena. However, making the move to LA, has surprisingly not been the easiest journey for me. Despite all of the support and encouragement I have experienced from family, friends, producers, and supporters over the past three years, this move has challenged me. It’s taught me to dust myself off, recover and get back out there, to fight and be the force I know I can be, instead of just wallowing in my own self pity. I definitely have a story to tell, and I plan to start writing about the challenges in my music, because that type of writing fuels the soul and can be relatable to people who hear my music.
Lessons I’ve learned and I’m still learning about social media is to stay in my own lane, versus allowing social media to consume who I am. I often stress over posting, and would very much like for someone else to manage my posts, but the more and more I ponder about it, I realize the best content I can post about who I am as Zoul’tis can best be told by me. In one concise sentence, who am I?
– I am Zoul’tis, a unique soul, who’s gifted, passionate, and here to embrace the phenomenons of life!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I’m new to LA myself, we would explore some places that I’ve been recommended to by my fellow coworkers. That being said, I love to have a good time and just enjoy the vibes. Since LA has amazing weather 95% of the time, we would most definitely hit Santa Monica or Venice Beach. Even though they’re a little touristy, why not include it in the itinerary. I would also recommend Break Room 86, The Highlight Room, EP&LP Rooftop, those spots give a nice ambiance while having a couple drinks to sip on. I love the brunch spot Fratelli’s Cafe on Melrose Ave, because it’s so quant and the food is absolutely delicious. Then we’d have to check out Wisdome.LA, because it’s LA’s first and largest immersive art and music dome park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give my mother a shout out as she was the first person I was introduced to, the first person to hold me, and the first person to whisper the words I love you in my ear. My mother has been that driving force in my life as it comes to being supportive of me finding my lane in the music and entertainment industry as an indie artist. She never misses an opportunity to physically be present and is always ready to encourage me to never give up, and she tells me often that when life or situations seem impossible the word possible is intertwined so just stay hopeful, prayed up and faithful. My mother is so vested in my career that she founded LeMay Marketing Firm, LLC to represent me as her company’s first client in 2019, which is when we both decided was the time to go full court press with my career as an indie artist, so we moved in silence working behind the scenes understanding the business, meeting with producers to work with me to create a unique sound to channel me as a niche artist. With my mother by my side I feel confident that I can do anything, be the best I can be, and turn a childhood dream into a reality.
