Meet Vuyo Joboda | International Producer/Director, Author, TV Host and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vuyo Joboda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vuyo, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My goal is to have served as a revolutionist in the media industry, having brought active change and solutions to an industry that helps shape society, its views and cultures. I aim to build a media company that will help ignite Africa and Inspire the World through media. The company and platform serving as a an amplification of voices and the maximization of opportunities. I want my company to create job opportunities, to be a purpose incubator and enable for the untold stories to have a platform to exists.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In 2020 I founded the VN streaming platform which is a Globally Inspired, Africa Ignited multi-streaming platform that aims to showcase the world Africa and the world to Africa. We believe in content ownership and the platform enables creatives to own their content. It has been a major challenge shooting original content because of the lockdown but we have continued to have content virtually. Another challenge has been to raise funds and capital for the platform, my biggest desire to have the platform as an app and not just a website so that there is easier access for content consumption. If the world would know and remember anything about my platform is that it is a bridge to letting Africans share their stories the way they best know how. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. There are so many adventures to take whilst here. Firstly the beach, the tranquil cape town beaches are the perfect place to begin a trip here. A day at the wine estate along Stellenbosh is also a definite must see. A rich and fulfilling experience. From picking strawberries to enjoying an experience tasting your favorite wines. Another destination worth experiencing is Table Mountain, one of the 8 wonders of the world. Table mountain is a beautiful to look at but what is even more beautiful is the view of the city you see when you are up on the mountain, breathtaking is an understatement. There are so many other exciting adventures in Cape Town but those three should definitely be on your bucket list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That would definitely have to be my ride or die, best friend and biggest supporter, mentor and encourager, my Mother! That is my girllll!!! She has played an integral role in reminding me that I can achieve anything that is in my heart. She has supported me through every career and life decision I have made and even when I lost friends and family because of the career path that I have chosen, she has always been on my side.
