We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Monique and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I think that the singe most important decision is taking on consultations prior to working with clients so I can decide if they will be a good fit for my brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create digital content for social media platforms through flyers , videos , commercials , and photo shoots. Also, I create and design websites. I host a podcast called Mo Loves to Talk Podcast streaming on YouTube and IG/ FB. I believe I got to where I was professionally today by being consistent and believing in my business and vision. No it was not easy because I self taught myself how to take photography pics / upload videos with digital content , create flyers / edit them and create websites. It’s long long hours but the reward comes in when the client is elated. The lessons I learned is to not give the client too many options. That I’m the expert and I know ultimately what is the better brand choice. I would love the world to know that I woke hard to customize each client to make their vision stand out. Also, that I love what I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a spa day at Westin downtown Jxn, MS called Soul Spa. They have a restaurant insider the hotel so we would grab lunch there. On Tuesdays they have Taco Tuesday at Names & Faces lounge so I would grab some food / drinks from that lounge. On Wednesday, we would definitely have to go to Another broken egg to try the breakfast. For lunch, we would grab some food from Soul food place Josephine’s Kitchen in Jxn, MS. The next day on Thursday, we will grab some lunch at Johnny T’s restaurant downtown and dinner at Da Fish Shak in Byram, MS for delicious seafood boil or catfish. Then on Friday, we would go to Gumbo girl for lunch in Jxn, MS and then 4th Avenue lounge for night life and after dinner we would head next door to Downtown Cigar Shop for a night cap drink and smoke a premium cigars and socialize. Saturday night we would grab some dinner at Half Shell Oyster Bar. Saturday afternoon we would grab some clothes from local store American Slang Collection located in Jackson , Mississippi.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to thank Diddy, Tabitha Brown and Tyler Perry for showing me what it takes to love yourself and treat the team around you well. I love how all 3 of these celebrities show the importance of work and family balance. Personally, I would like to thank my close friends and family for supporting my dreams.
