We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawna Quota and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawna, how does your business help the community?
Boudoir photography is incredibly powerful! The most rewarding aspect of what I do is changing people’s perception of themselves. We become burdened by societal beauty standards, negative personal relationships, etc., but boudoir helps people strip those filters away. My clients see themselves in a whole new light after their session! Boosting confidence is pretty cool!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets my client experience apart from others is my innate ability to make people comfortable. Being in lingerie in front of a stranger isn’t something a lot of people are comfortable with, but time and again my clients have remarked on how relaxed they’ve been and how much fun they’ve had. It was honestly hard work, determination, and constant improvement that got me where I am today. My biggest challenge has always been myself, I get impostor syndrome often. I’ve overcome this by reading what clients have to say about their experience and reminding myself that no one else is me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m kind of a nerd, so the classic places would be it for me: museums, the zoo, the aquarium, those kinds of things. I’m also a huge steak buff, so we’d have to eat at Fogo de Chao at least once.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not have done this without the support of my family! My clients’ experience also would not be complete without my team! Quitman Alexander does hair and makeup for my clients, but that’s not even half of his talent! He’s also a gifted clothing designer and drag performer! I also have Austyn Holly as a makeup artist and she is just as amazing! Aside from doing beautiful makeup looks, she also competes in rodeos!
