We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Perfection is for basic b*tches” is my personal motto and the tagline for my business, PERFECTAHOLIC. I came up with it as I was dealing with a particularly stressful time. I had been a perfectionist for most of my life and was realizing more and more how my perfectionist tendencies were hindering me instead of helping me. I never considered myself basic and I cuss a lot so the motto fits my personality and also helps me snap out of the perfection rabbit holes I still find myself in. When I start “perfecting” I just repeat my motto a few times, accept that good is good enough and then move on.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Founder + CEO of PERFECTAHOLIC. We are a business on a mission to help women break-up with perfection. As a recovering perfectionist, I learned the hard way about letting perfection run my life. I was always seeking perfection in myself, in my work and in others. It was exhausting and one day I decided that I’d had enough. Launching this business was the easiest and hardest thing I have done wrapped into one. It was easy because I feel so strongly about helping women embrace a life that is a little messy. But it was also hard because I have started businesses before that were not successful financially. I was afraid to get myself further into debt to launch PERFECTAHOLIC and even more fearful of launching a business that required me to admit my many imperfections. I say all this to say, when you know, you know. I knew very quickly how important this business was, not only to me but to the women who will benefit from it. Even with knowing that, fear will sometimes try to divert you from your mission. Don’t let it! Perfection is for basic b*tches, but so is fear!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to all those who have loved me on my journey – the good, bad and ugly parts of me. I feel an intense amount of gratitude for those who have seen my gifts, encouraged me and pushed me to keep going when I literally could not find the energy to get out the bed. I especially want to thank my mommy for giving me a real-world example of how to be my full authentic self – regardless of what anyone else thinks. My mother is wise, loving, about her business and doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. I thank God for her everyday.
