We had the good fortune of connecting with Derrell Ealim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Derrell, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with idea Sketchnificent animation because I wanted to create unique animations and share my story and wild thoughts through animation .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If I had to describe my work I would say nostalgia meets hood rich. I started out drawing just like any other kid asI got older started taking art classes in school. I didn’t really start taking Art as career seriously till like 8 years ago, I would post my drawings on social media and I had some people like and comment. What made me started wanting to do freelance work was I saw other artists doing commissions for other people and that gave me fuel to push even harder . Last year was my first year moving over from traditional Art to digital art I started out using my iPhone with the cracked screen lol. Posting drawings and that caught the eye of a R&B singer/ Rapper she needed a album cover I got it done she and her team loved it. I think what I’m proud of so far is seeing my artwork on Apple Music some days it still blows my mind that my artwork is on this singer EP or on this rapper mixtape I catch myself smiling. Being a creative isn’t easy this is tough journey and everyday there’s tests recently I just started Sketchnificent animation LLC I want the world to know about my brand is their going to get something unique something outside the box.

I want to shoutout the artist that came before me, showing me at a young age that drawing isn’t just for kids. I also want to give special recognition to the book The isis papers really changed my outlook on life.
