We had the good fortune of connecting with Teana Whitehead and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business was basically just go for it! I had worked under many different people for years and never pursued being my own business. I had the resources and ability to set my own schedule with my most recent employer and went for it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other pet stylists is simple.. most stylists are just in the profession for the money aspect whereas with myself I am a dog grooming simply for the love for the craft. I got to where I am today by working hard and perfecting my craft. Lessons I have learned on my journey are to not let one no deter you from my yes. My brand was purely built on motivation to make sure my daughter does not feel like she does not have her mom around when the time comes for school functions because I work long hours. Just to make Nia ( daughter ) happy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend and I love to shop so we’re definitely going to head to any mall, then we’ll catch a some lunch in the city I’m originally from Ohio so I am not familiar with a lot of restaurants here but we would be pretty open to try anything. Getting manicures and pedicures should be on any girls’ itinerary.. we would end our night by hitting up a hookah lounge and just vibe to some good music. Good vibes only!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my mom. She keeps me grounded and focusing on reaching all my goals. Even when I have reached a goal do not just stop there keep going!
