We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Makupson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I started Meraki in 2018 formulating products in my kitchen and selling to friends and family! I was receiving great feedback so I decided to start doing local events and pop up shops around Atlanta. From that point the brand started to gain a traction, social media presence as well as a few key press placements that helped to really advance my brand!
The word Meraki means to do something with love, soul, and creativity; to put the essence of yourself into your work! I set out to create a purposeful brand that would nourish your mind, body, soul, and your hair! My goal is to continue to create high performance clean products without having to compromise your health. I want my daughter and other young women to learn the importance of self-care and self-love. Also seeing and understanding the beauty of walking in your purpose!

What should our readers know about your business?

Meraki is an Organic, Cruelty free, Non Toxic, Vegan Hair Care brand. Meraki products feature fair Trade Exotic Botanicals, Butters, and Oils from around the world. Our products are handcrafted in small batches, then activated with Gemstones to create high vibrational, high performance, environmentally sustainable Hair Care Essentials.

Our products are designed with nutrient rich ingredients that are vital for maintaining the hydration and strength your hair needs to become healthy. Feeding your hair Meraki products will add the vitamins and nourishment it needs to maintain healthy, beautiful, luxurious hair.

I am happy to announce my products are now available at Anthropologie!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lots of favorite places in the city!! For an Itinerary I would start with a lunch at Sunflower Cafe! This is my favorite vegan restaurant in the city! I would plan a spa day at JeJu! They have a sauna that is actually made of gemstone and crystals! We would also visit my favorite crystals shop Phenox and dragon! Grab some fresh juice from The Juice Bar in Suwanee! Then head to a yoga class with my favorite instructor at Johns Creek Yoga! I love outdoor activities so climbing Stone Mountain would also be a fun activity!! Finish the trip with another spa day at IwII Fresh Spa and some shopping at Phipps Plaza!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The love and support from my family and everyone who supports Meraki!
