We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Graves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, how does your business help the community?
Our business was created to identify the black owned businesses and allies across the nation

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Black Green Book was launched in March of 2021 with the goal of connecting black business owners to black business allies. We view ourselves as a “one stop shop” for all black business ranging from childcare to real estate. We are excited about the idea of having black owned businesses and allies listed in a centralized location to be searched by visitors and supporters. We are looking pivoting our marketing strategies to reach a greater population.
This venture has taught us a lot about social media as a means of marketing yourself.
We want the world to know the importance of maintaining black wealth, and the circulation of the black dollar.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are based in three various areas; Chicago, Orlando and Salisbury, MD. Chicago has so much to offer from the museums to the historical buildings, the beach and lakefront vibes to the food. Chicago is a place to spend several days to explore. Downtown would be first, then the various neighborhoods and their unique personalities and individual culture would be next.
Orlando is synonymous with Disney of course but there’s more to than that. Orlando has great adventures like swamped tours, gator farms etc
Salisbury is a quiet seaside city with great hospitality and history. Be sure to visit some brewhouses and go antiquing

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to thank Kimberly Epes and Epescode.com
