We had the good fortune of connecting with LaVert “VERT” Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaVert “VERT”, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always considered my self a leader, an growing up a lot of my peers would always gravitate towards me, so with all that being said I wanted to create a brand that will let people be N Charge an feel as though they are the boss. My thoughts were to create something so different that it’ll make people want to figure out my background and what the brand is about

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Business is called Youngest N Charge which stems from me being the youngest child and my last name being Young, my brand is built off a lot of hurt and pain that I’ve been though, my logo has four bars which represent how many children my mother has, also included in my logo is two Tears those tears are the two times in my life where I was at my lowest point. First is when my nephew Father passed way, that made me have to step up an become a better father figure to my nephew(STINK) the second tear is from when I tore my Achilles playing football, when that happened it showed that I am more than an athlete. An that there’s more to life than football. I would say I’m most proud about how I never gave up an seeing how my brands growing an Evolving each and every year.

I got to where I am today, by never losing faith, I knew that this wouldn’t be easy, from losing money to people not supporting me. Don’t get me wrong it’s been times where I thought was I cut for this lifestyle. But I remembered that I can do anything I put my mind to. I overcome those challenges by waking up and going 10x harder than I did the previous day an knowing that I wasn’t the first choice of clothing for people made me prove to my city that I Am an will be a great choice!

Lessons I learned along the way was you will fail but never quit, people will not support you all the time but you have to use that as fuel and Jew pushing and lastly I’ve learned that theirs always someone rooting for you an someone that wants to be just like you.

I what the word to know that my brand is built off of pain an we all go though that but we are N Charge of our own destiny. An the way we look

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by taking him to the mall of America, which is the biggest mall in America, from there we would go to the Escape room, an sky diving. I would take him to the George Floyd memorial site as well. From there I would take him to RH rooftop restaurant food is really good, an their mashed potatoes are VERY GOOD . I think our mall is very interesting and the George Floyd memorial is as well

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother, sister (Ladonna) and older brother(LaRon) , they’ve always supported me in everything that I’ve done, from sports, to both my graduations to my clothing brand that I have now. They were so hard on me growing up an even now because they seem so much potential in me an didn’t want me to fall off track
