We had the good fortune of connecting with Darnele Chisholm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darnele, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Honestly, it was the only option for me. Out of all the jobs that I’ve had, the job of a barber was the only one that was consistent and was the only role that truly made me happy. It took discipline and scarifies for me to find the right school (to get the official licenses needed), but it was 100% worth it in the end! I love what I do, so to me it’s like I get to work in my passion and calming everyday!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My passion for the art of barbering and my perfectionist mindset is what really sets me apart from other barbers. I’m so proud of the leader, man, artist, influencer and barber I’ve become. It took me working 12 hour days Tuesday though Saturday for about a year and four months straight, to graduate Barber School , and I appreciate every minute of it. No it was not easy being that I had a full time job and going to school part time, my social life took a big toll. One of the main lessons I’ve learned through this process is being accountable for every action I take and every move I make. Not only holding myself accountable but holding others accountable around me that could share the same possible success I have. I am a strong believer in God, so my advice to all creatives in the artistic field, is to believe in yourself. When things are not going the way you wanted then to go, believe in the process and watch it unfold. Success doesn’t happen overnight.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success has has a lot of different hands in it, but I believe the man reason I went to Barber school was becasue of my Wife. I give all credit to her listening to me complain about my work life and igniting the fire to my career. I also want to thank my Dad for giving me the composure and confidence I needed to take that leap of faith. To the 3 guys that molded me as the barber I am today , I also want to thank Jermaine Johnson, Damian Johnson, and Charlie Petty. I appreciate all of you.
