We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Roper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jocelyn, how does your business help the community?
Way2Cheer is a mission-driven business that relates organizational purpose to genuine values and impact measures. My business helps the community by developing young students to be trailblazers who cheer and lead. Way2Cheer is founded on the best practices and policies that are designed with social impact in mind. My framework for impact will improve student leadership in at least two ways: (1) by improving school and community relations (2) by improving intergroup relations within schools between and among students, staff, and faculty. My business focuses on long-term outcomes in the lives of individual students such as gains in future income with training and employment, and Way2Cheer aims for both individual outcomes and broader impacts on society such as increase in academic success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner and Chief Cheer Officer (CCO) of Way2Cheer which is an elite performance organization that offers cheerleading as an opportunity for students to be exposed to and develop skills in the sport of cheerleading with dance infusion. I serve girls from rising Kindergarten through 8th grade throughout Cobb County. Coming from a Professional Cheer background I bring the highest quality specialized choreography and coaching methodologies that challenges my girls to excel in precision, tumbling, voice projection, stunts and execution. I am very proud of the success and growth of my company. Way2Cheer has been invited and performed at numerous events in the Greater Atlanta area including a NBA Atlanta Hawks basketball game. The road to entrepreneurship is NEVER easy and I am no exception. Yes I have had challenges across the board but my primary challenge has been Exponential Growth! I learned quickly that too much business is just as bad as having no business at all. It’s the Art of Keeping Up and Serving on a Large Scale. Word spread rapidly when I first started Way2Cheer and I quickly reached instruction capacities. This caused me to realize the need for duplication and expanding my team to provide the best experience for my girls and their parents. I highly recommend a business coach/mentor- my personal life and business Coach taught me that Success Leaves Clues so he helped me plan out my business and look to other successful businesses to ensure that I didn’t re-invent the wheel and learned and grew through the process. I want the world to know Way2Cheer is designed to open doors for young students from elementary to middle school ages enriching their lives with exposure to educational outlets, cultural events, artistic performance techniques, and opportunities to serve others.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Atlanta is a phenomenal city and I am a proud resident of historical Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Enjoy my favorite spots to visit and experience in the city! Jackson Street Bridge is a great place to experience the beautiful Atlanta skyline. I highly recommended visiting during sunrise or sunset. Busy Bee Café is a must experience restaurant. It is the perfect place for soul food and a taste of ATL. Atlanta BeltLine is great outdoor lovers and persons of all ages. The beltline offers amazing art installations built right off the path. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars to stop by as well. For a hidden gem to enjoy small bits and a great drink, head to the James Room off the beltline! If you love art, visit the Midtown Arts District and head to High Museum of Art.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give thanks to my mentor, friend, and life-coach, Chris Cooper. With his guidance, I successfully transitioned in my career, business, life, and relationships.
