So many of the folks we work with have multidimensional stories. They often aren’t just working on a single project, business or mission – instead they are often involved in so many things all at once and so we often wonder about what they themselves hope their legacy will be about. When I think of what I will leave behind, I inherently think of the children in my life. I think of the things I wished those before me had left behind, paths they could have cleared and possibly fear they could have prevented. I want to be that for those little people looking up at me. I want to be someone who faced her fears in front of them. I want to be someone who cleared a path off the main road. I want to leave behind a plethora of knowledge but more importantly, grace. As I was growing up, I always imagined who or what I wanted to be. No matter who or what I ended up being or doing. I knew that my work ethic was always the center of my focus. Rather I was a black business owner or a sales associate, everyone always knew I was a hard worker. I don’t only want to be remembered as a hard worker, but I want everyone to know that I did work hard for my passions and my purpose. I would hope people remember me exactly as who I am. I would like to be remembered by others as a hard worker who would not allow failure to be an excuse, but rather a motivation. I have tons of things in life I could have used as excuses to quit on the career path that I am pursuing, but you only get one life and you might as well chase something that you are passionate about. I have 10 total nieces and nephews and anytime I feel as though I am putting limitations on myself, I think about setting an example for them.
