As a mother of two sons, one of the most impactful things I teach my children is not to give up what they want most by refusing to sacrifice what they want now; the importance of critical thinking, rather than making emotional based decisions. There is an 18 year age difference between my boys, so they have both received very different versions of “mom”, but they will both be able to extract the values I instill in them from everyday living. Navigating through life requires us to be resilient & forward thinking, while maintaining the ability to pivot directions when necessary for success. They will each have points of reference to encourage them when it’s time for them to make difficult decisions or change course, even when the winds of life blow unexpectedly in a strange direction.
