We had the good fortune of connecting with Ydrate Nelson Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ydrate Nelson, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Over the last decade I have worked in the education field. From University of Phoenix, to Grand Canyon University to a high school teacher and football coach. I have been compensated for my time and appreciate each opportunity as they all created stability and comfort for my family.
However I felt there was more for me and my family to accomplish in the education space so I took a huge risk and as of the end of May, I will be working full time as an entrepreneurs servicing the education industry. This is a huge risk walking way from a stable job to pursue my dreams but I feel like it is now or never.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my company is & Associates LLC and we are in the process of launching BE THE GREATEST University.
I specialize in:
Motivational Speaking
Educational Consulting
Greatness Life Coaching
I help students, educators and inspiring leaders develop leadership strategies to maximize their Greatness.
My mission is to be a global leader in the motivation, coaching and education industries, building relationships on a passion for serving, living a motivated lifestyle and striving for Greatness.
I have spent the last 5 years working as a high school teacher and now I will be taking my knowledge and creating programs that service teacher and students. Education is the corner stone to success and if we don’t support teachers and students then we will be doing our society a great disservice.
My business is constantly growing and we are transitions from part time to full time. it was hard to say goodbye to the classroom because I have passion for working with students but I feel that I could service more students world wide by growing my business.
The process is certainly not easy but the results are worth the journey.
I have learned to love and embrace the process. Growing up on a dirt road in Dublin, GA as kid we grow most of our food. When I hear people say they got it out of the mud that is literal to me. We literally got it out of the mud. Now as I work to grow and develop my business, I always reflect back to that same growth process that feed us as kids will now help feed my family as an adult. I am still respecting the growth process and getting it out of the mud for my business, family and business goals. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Dublin, GA and lived in Atlanta before relocating to Phoenix, AZ.
If I had the pleasure to entertain some of Georgia people for an entire week, we would start out by taking a tour of all the cities in the Phoenix metro area and eat at different restaurants including Matt’s Big Breakfast and Lo Lo Chicken and waffle.
Day two would consist of more food and hiking A mountain in Tempe to work off the calories.
We would spend day 3 eating and spending time at Tempe town lake boat and motor scooter riding and walking Mill Ave.
The next day, we would take a trip to Sedona and enjoy the beauty of Red rock city.
After staying over night in nearby Flagstaff we would make our way to the Grand Canyon and spend two days exploring the vast and beauty of the canyon.
We would then return to Phoenix for some rest as we get ready to hit the pool, shop and enjoy the night life of Scottsdale, AZ. Come form GA, its a whole new world.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Beyond my family circle, one of the first people to ever give me an opportunity to display my ability as a leader was Dave Roberts the owner of Chic Fil A in Dublin, GA. he hire me when I was only 18 years old and he taught me what he knew. As soon as I graduated from high school he promoted me to manager. I was only 18 and I was conducting interviews, inventory, training new employees, counting the registers and opening and closing the store. It was a lot of responsibility by the fact that he trusted me empowered me to push myself to new heights. I was doing things I didn’t even realize was possible for me at that age. I still reflect back on that experience and use it to this day to keep me on track and to build confidence in myself and my business.
