We had the good fortune of connecting with Yavonya Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yavonya, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A lot of people are afraid to take risk, but I personally think risk is a part of life. How big or little you view it depends on your perception. As an entrepreneur, you must know how to play the cards that are dealt to you and know how much risk you’re willing to take. When I have new ideas that I am weary about my thought process is always go for it because “the time will pass” by regardless. For example, many people are often discouraged by others to go to college because they’re told that they’re too old or they’ve been out of high school for too long etc. But no matter how you look at it, the time will bypass and in five years you can have a degree or in five years you can be in the same predicament. I view financial risk a little different only because as adults we financial responsibilities, so I don’t think it’s smart to take a gamble with your life savings or the only money you have to your name. I only encourage people to take financial risk if they can afford it. Prior to starting my business, I knew that if I had 10 thousand dollars today, in 3 months I would still have that same 10 thousand dollars. Or I could take my chances and invest 3 thousand dollars and turn my entire 10 into 20 thousand. The risk I was taking was big, but the profit was even bigger, so I went for it. This mindset has helped me in my personal life as well as my business because it keeps me motivated and never allows me to settle.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of a online clothing boutique named DXPE Clothing. We offer versatile clothing for women and men. We strive for our customers to always feel dope no matter who you are, your size or the color of your skin. All of our clothing are custom cut and sew, so you will not find our styles anywhere else. DXPE Clothing stand with people who have a hard time finding their inner selves. We’re dedicated to bringing self awareness to those who lack self love, peace, happiness and confidence. Our message to the world is everyone is dope in their own way, we’re not just a brand its a lifestyle. DXPE Clothing was established in 2020, but didn’t officially launch until September of 2021. I’m fairly new to the business world and haven’t encountered many trials and tribulations as of yet, but I am looking forward to what this journey has to offer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am new to Georgia myself, me and my family moved here two months ago. So personally I am still figuring out the city myself and all the attractions Georgia has to offer. But what I have experienced so far that I think is the most fun is the heart of downtown Atlanta. Atlanta is such a vibe, you can just park your car along the street and view the beauty of the city. My favorite spot to eat at is a spot called YoChef’s, my favorite night club is GoldRoom & my favorite hang out spot is Skyline Park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Number one my kids are my biggest motivation. They keep me focused and always striving to better myself. I wouldn’t have made it this far in my life nor my business if I didn’t have my wonderful support system who consist of my mom, fiancé, sister and mother in law. They are my biggest supporters. I can come to them with the craziest ideas that may seem impossible, but we always make it possible. They are not only supportive physically, but mentally as well which is very special to me. Mental health is very important because as humans we need our souls and spirits to be taken care of. Having reliable people who are good to you and can depend on is such a huge blessing that is often taken for granted.
