We had the good fortune of connecting with Wowashwow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wowashwow, why did you pursue a creative career?
It may sound absolutely extreme, but being an artist and creating is as important to me as breathing is. It’s the driving force around how I handle my daily life. I’ve always been creating and playing music since I was 5 years old, and I feel blessed that almost two decades later, I’m still doing what I love and making progress that makes me happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I want the world to know that I create music and art to make myself and others happy. I create because I want to inspire. I create because I have a perspective and approach towards music and creativity, that I know doesn’t fit the norm. And that’s why I have a desire to put it out there. I want people to look at me and see that with timing, consistency, and faith in an amazing team of people. You can absolutely accomplish anything.

I’m super excited about the single I just released produced by Sam J. Garfield entitled, ” Class Enrollment.” I wrote in the middle of a very frustrating text exchange, and it’s a reminder to understand your value and self worth as an artist. We’ve also released the music video in support of this, and I’m super proud of the work myself and team Voodoo Visuals put into it.

I’m proud of the recent project I did in collaboration with Love Bailey called Hornatia. It has been nominated for a Cannes Film Award for Best Music Video.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, immediately pulling up to Gorilla Wellness RX which is the 1st black female owned dispensary here in LA to grab some herbal supplements. Then we are immediately taking a drive through the mountains of Santa Monica to take a slow cruise down PCH. Then we would shoot across town to Sugar Taco on Wilshire blvd for some extra strong margs and the most delicious vegan food I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m not even vegan, haha. Then end the night either by going to some experimental art show in DTLA or by twirling around until my feet hurt at all the nightclubs in WEHO.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to absolutely shoutout TROY C. FORD! He is fashion and costume designer that is a force to be reckoned with, but more importantly, he is someone who I consider family and a confidante besides being my designer for all of my major projects. He has been creating for longer than I’ve been alive on this earth, and if you’ve ever seen an insane design from RuPaul’s Drag race circulating on the blogs, chances are my “Uncle” Troy made that. His soul is as beautiful as his designs are, and he is absolutely someone that you should know.
