Meet Willie J. Davis | Atlanta and Detroit REALTOR@ and Crypto Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Willie Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Willie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, starting my own business came very naturally.

I spent over 10 years in corporate America working in marketing for various companies, a career that I really enjoyed, but I knew for sure that I did not want to continue to work for someone else in the coming years. I slowly started to become intentional with my actions over the next 12 to 18 months making sure that what I was doing was going toward that overall goal.

I began to get my license in real estate in Michigan and found that I loved working with buyers and sellers more than I thought I would. Working with my first few clients, I started to see how rewarding it was for not only myself but also the families. Over the first couple of years, I had a lot of trial and error as to what I wanted my business to look like, feel like, and the messaging I wanted to go after.

Even after 5 years in the business and expanding to Atlanta this past year, I still have to go back to the basics and think about what I want my business to look like and be for my clients in both Detroit and Atlanta. I understand that clients in both places are not the same and that requires some additional thought as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Willie Davis REALTOR® is not just another real estate brand. Willie Davis, myself, is not just another real estate agent. Many times, people will say they want to get into real estate because they like looking at homes and architecture. Those things are true for me as well, but I also enjoy the work that comes with being a REALTOR®.

Being able to help a client through a real estate transaction and solve their real estate problems is something I’ve come to really appreciate and not take for granted. I don’t do this for show or for cameras, or for anyone else but for my client and knowing that I am doing everything that I can to help someone who has the right to own a home and deserves to own a home, brings me comfort.

I am proud of what my brand Willie Davis REALTOR® represents in Atlanta as well as in Detroit where it started. Four years into the business and deciding to expand to Atlanta was not an easy decision, but I knew this was a great place for my business and myself to grow. I’ve been able to work in Detroit and Atlanta (living in Atlanta full-time) because of the great foundation I build for my business and the amazing team I keep around me. From a fantastic lender-partner to an amazing Transaction Coordinator, those things have helped me run my Michigan business while focusing more on clients and expansion in Atlanta.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned while being in business is to stay true to yourself. It can be very easy to look to the left and right and see what someone else is doing. Not realizing what struggles they may have had to overcome and comparing yourself to where they may be today. When I first expanded my business to Atlanta, I had to lean into this even more. I had to be sure of who I was and what my brand stood for. There can be a lot of “fake it til you make it” everywhere you go in life, but I try to be very transparent with people of the struggles of owning and running a business as well as just being in the business.

More than ever before, I am sure of what my brand stands for and how I can help my clients anywhere they may be. In 2022, I obtained my Crypto Certified Agent certification which will allow me to bring another element into my business, which is working with cryptocurrency transactions. I will be one of the few agents in Atlanta who will be knowledgeable in helping my buyers and sellers incorporate crypto into their real estate transactions and in some cases help them individually enter the world of crypto.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking it easy and taking a walk down the Beltline in midtown and seeing all the new developments going on. Having a crispt beer at New Realm Brewing Co. checking out the skyline on the rooftop and catching a sunset.

Because I’m into fitness as well, I like to get a workout in at Clarity Fitness, a body-positive gym in downtown Decatur that offers a great atmosphere.

A couple of great restaurants that I love is RA Sushi Bar in midtown and walk over to Cafe Intermezzo down the block for a great piece of cheesecake for dessert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
One person who always supports me is my fiance Anna. Since we have been together in 2020, she has been a cheerleader for me (sometimes more than I am for myself) and has never stood in the way of any plans and ideas that I have – no matter how crazy they are. Anna has been a great partner to go through some of these things with in my business and personal life as well.
