We had the good fortune of connecting with Willie Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Willie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted my own video production company. I believe when starting out as a filmmaker you learn so much more since most cases your shooting events, weddings, interviews, commercials, etc as a solo cinematographer. Yes, this is great and happens more often than you would imagine but the greatest feeling I’ve had was collaborating with talented individuals that have the same end goal of telling compelling stories for global companies & creatives/artists. I was never the greatest when it came to marketing but once I started Creative Goats it taught me so much more in other skill sets that I avoided as a solo filmmaker.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We live in a world where knowledge is at our fingertips at any time. You can learn the fundamentals of almost anything by watching a 20 minute video on Facebook or YouTube. There are thousands of production companies in Georgia, but what sets Creative Goats Studios apart is we want to share our knowledge with you so you can take your video production to the next level. We take risks that other production companies are willing to take. I strongly believe that taking risks is one of the hardest challenges when creating a new business and it does pay off. We take ideas and make them a reality no matter how challenging they can be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is one of the most artistic cities in the world. There’s art almost everywhere, on buildings, cars, and even on the streets. If I had to give a few places my picks would be Atlanta Beltline, Coca-Cola Secret Formula Vault, Ponce City Market and Botanical Garden.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I first started out most of my day was promoting and networking to prove myself that I’m capable of creating these engaging films. I don’t think I would be where I am today without the love and support my mother has given me over the years I’ve been in the post-production field. From buying equipment to getting me started to helping form my video production company, Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today at the age I am. Of course, I want to shout out to all the creative directors, cinematographers, producers, and talent I’ve worked with over the years as well.
