We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Bella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Being a beauty influencer/creator has always been a passion. I realized at an early age, actually in 3rd grade I got in trouble for bringing my mother’s red lipstick to school and putting it on. Boy did my teacher have a lot to say about that, so I knew early on beauty was my thing! I had the talent, skills, and abilities to be artistically creative. A lot of my friends and family would say “Whitney, you need to show how you do your make up, what products you use, or where you got an outfit” I would just brush it off like well if someone asks I will just tell them lol, never really thought about doing anything else with it. I feel that I took this creative path because it was inevitable, I know with absolute certainty that this is what I was born to do. What I do think about often is “How can I use this platform to influence other black women?” It wasn’t until 2015 I took my content creator and being a beauty influencer serious, I created my YouTube account where I do make up tutorials, weekly vlogs, product reviews & more. From then I used my Instagram platform to connect with other creators and land brand deals with various beauty, lifestyle, and fashion brands. My goal is to be a reliable source for my audience whether that is giving skin care tips, the best beauty and lifestyle products or empowering women!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work in the medical field full time and am also a beauty influencer and content creator, which I also consider a full time job as it takes dedication and commitment. What sets me apart from others is that I move to the beat of own drum, I consider myself a realist and am honest in my beauty and product reviews. I want my audience to know the pros and cons of anything that I am reviewing and my influence them to try. I am SO excited and proud of the growth my platform has taken, I never thought that I would grow so fast, and this only comes from hard work and dedication. I think some people think creating content is easy but a lot of editing and polishing content before it is posted to social media. Getting to where I am today has not been easy and many days I wanted to quit, I overcame this by thinking of my WHY, why did I start this in the first place? Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to do things my way, and be my true authentic self, I can’t focus on what everyone else is doing and continue to put on content that my audience loves. I want to teach other women to be confident in who they are, their inner & outer beauty and to love themselves. I want to teach women how to start and build their brand authentically , and make a name for themselves. I am ecstatic to show the world all I have to offer as a beauty influencer, content creator, more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting for a week we would start with brunch, we LOVE a good brunch. We would go eat at Atlanta Breakfast Club or The Beautiful, two of the best brunch spots in Atlanta. We’d then do some make up shopping at Sephora in Ponce City Market, we love looking for new products to try out or re-up on some faves. We’d then go to Atlantic Station to walk around and do more retail shopping and take a couple pictures. For lunch we’d go go to Osha Thai restaurant, they have the best mussels and sushi – we love a good sushi spot! For the evening we’d go to a low-key lounge Suite Lounge which used to be the old Lucky Lounge and a catch a vibe, we’d listen to some music, have a few drinks and enjoy each other. Finally we would end her trip with a last brunch on Sunday at South City Kitchen, they have excellent chicken & waffles!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to my Mother, friends, and family who has been my sun, moon and stars in every aspect of my life. My My mother is the woman I aim to become, without her I’m sure I would have never gotten into makeup & fashion. She is the person who taught me that you never leave the house without a full face, hair done and a presentable outfit because you never know who you’ll see. I still apply that to my everyday life as I am growing and finding myself in this world. My friends are some of my biggest supporters, thank you all for showing me that I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to and have supported me from day one and continuously pushed me when I wanted to give up and quit, Thank you!
