We had the good fortune of connecting with Westside Starks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Westside, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision i ever had to make was to drop out of college and continue to work my way throught life. The challenges became overwhelming making it easy to lose myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well when it comes to my art i have been through many stages of trial and error. from trying different styles to completely redoing my image. once i realized that once i just put myslelf out there the rest would flow and i didnt have to try to look like an “Artist” i am an Artist, so once i gained more confidence in that area i began to create at a high level.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
id have to say one of my favorite spots in the city is edgewood. for me its everything you need especially when you dont feel like paying $300 to get into a club. the outside of the varsity is always one of my go to spots. somewhere that has a nice view of the city and you and friends can enjoy the summer night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
the first person that comes to mind is my big cousin Damaja D (Daryl) he was always supportive and opened his home for me to record my first ever mixtape. that is something i can never forget and he is someone that no matter what ill always keep on my side. As far as recent days one of my best friends, a brother Lance Devinci plays a huge roll in why my hope in music is still high, once he asked me to be apart of KNEWSOUND i didnt hesitate, hes one of the hardest working artist i know and always supported the vision.
