We had the good fortune of connecting with Wesley “Alyx” Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wesley “Alyx”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Consistency. Staying true to my idea and the motive behind my image is what kept it going. Hard work pays off, you can’t skip the work it never works like that. Atlanta started to see the aesthetic and the imagery I was putting out which was stronger and more consistent than last year.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As for my brand Project X, it really started as a idea to express my vision on fashion especially in my hometown Mobile, Alabama, which ended up moving to Atlanta. I really wanted to show people the differences and controversial aspects when it comes to fashion. I talk to a lot influencers about it and most of the time they was shocked some believed it wasn’t possible, while others believed it would be the start of a movement. With mixed reviews I was confused and really lost in the process. Even one bad opinion would lead me to stopping the whole project. Public opinions always mattered to me back then because I wanted to know if my ideas was sane enough. Once I put opinions to the side and allowed myself to freely take control of my brand and my imagery, it started attracting the attentions of others like Daf (Siberia Hills) Ian Conner (Sickö) and many more, brands that I used to look up to when I was younger. I started a collective titled “Aeon League”. A group that focus on showing diversity of styles and fashion intakes. Many of members are influencers, entrepreneurs, models etc.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Canoe all hands down my favorite place to eat. Burgers and fries being my most favorite thing about the spot. And after that I would get some drinks at MSR in Atlanta. The vibes are good, but the drinks is something no other place can beat. For a chill spot Cam Kirk Studios is pretty chill and it happens to be right across from Atlanta most popular Magic City.
