We had the good fortune of connecting with Vera Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vera, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I’m not going to lie and sugarcoat my experiences, but some days I do question if I should keep going or should I give up. We all have those thoughts in our mind. It’s human nature to doubt. It’s a realistic thought process. But what keeps me grounded and going are my VISIONS! I can see it and I can imagine what it feels like. And I can almost taste my success. For every one thought I have of giving up, I have a thousand more of why I shouldn’t give up. That’s what keeps me going.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My creative art sets me apart from other creators. I’m always told I don’t sound like anyone else musically or production wise. I take pride in my sound. I study my sound and I do my best to stand out. I had to step away from music for a time for personal reasons but I am most excited on my return back to music.
I had to go thru a lot of ups and downs to get to where I am now. A lot of disappointments and Wins to get to where I am musically.
My journey has not been easy. It’s not just about music, it’s also about navigating through your personal life while you pursue your dreams. And sometimes life be lifeing. Lol.
I overcame my challenges by keeping my eye on the vision that God gave me.
Through my musical journey thus far I have learned to solely focus on the craft of art making because you can’t change anything else.
I want people to know that everyday I’m working on becoming more vulnerable in my visuals and my music so I can be more relatable to my fans and supporters.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whewwwww! Lol. So I am very unique when it comes to travel experiences but it’s nonetheless super chill and fun. I love the African and Caribbean scene. Monday: We would first go to a relaxing Spa and then we would go to a nice African Restaurant for Dinner
Tuesday: there is a nice place to eat, get drinks and dance at this place called Rock Steady
Wednesday: We would go for lunch at JamRock for some authentic Caribbean cuisine
Thursday: We would go to Ike’s Cafe for some soulful African dinner
Friday: We would party at Ace nightclub for some drinks and nice food
Saturday: Party at the most lit spot in Atlanta called the Living Room
Sunday: And of course after Church we would go to Rum Punch Brunch and we would have the best week ever.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I wouldn’t be real if I didn’t thank God our creator. Without God I would t have survived. Second my mother who birth me and gave me existence. My sibling because although we fight lol, my sibling is always there for me. My friends have definitely been there for me when I needed it the most. And most importantly my Grandma whom I call “Abuela”. My Abuela has always been my backbone. She introduced me to culture at a very young age. She introduced me to music. She introduced me to traveling across the ocean. And for that I am forever grateful.
