We had the good fortune of connecting with Treston Mayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Treston, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business M.Bitions V.O.Y.S. Production was created to inspire and capture memories, success, stories, and growth. As a production company which services include photography, videography, social media management, content creation, and web development we make our impact on the community/world by positively helping others with their business or personal goals.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew up having hoop dreams wanting to play in the NBA. When you grow up doing that one thing you love your whole life it’s hard to transition into something outside of it when you accept the fact that thats not the route you were meant to take. Becoming a videographer was something I didn’t have in mind. I initially was looking to do marketing because I knew I love to create ideas to make things better. When I was in college I never took an internship so after college when I was trying to figure things out I decided to buy a camera to build a portfolio. I locked myself in a room and watched hours of tutorials on how to edit, take pictures, and video. I was living in Omaha, Nebraska with my dad at this time where I’m originally from. I moved back to Orlando, Florida in 2016 with my mother and went looking for a marketing job. The marketing job I ended up getting wasn’t what I had in mind. They had me promoting bed sheets in a Sam’s Club! I ended that and decided to take my own route . The challenge I was facing now was stepping outside of my comfort zone and promoting myself to other businesses. The first business I went to to pitch myself and get a gig made it easier than expected. They needed a video asap. The amazing thing about that story was that I ended up not shooting the video but still getting paid for my idea. That gave a boost of confidence in myself to keep my foot on the gas and knew that I not only had value in my skills as a videographer, but had something more important, my ideas. This led me into building more relationships with other businesses and clients because I was able to scale my ideas and put it in video or photos. This then led me into taking a more directors route because I’m very passionate in story telling. The biggest lesson I have learned in the last 4 years is you grow through what you go through and anything worth having isn’t easy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city is were people can enjoy themselves and meet other people. Living in Florida I have found a few spots I like going to. One is the gym at TITLE Boxing Club Winter Park. I have learned a lot working with them and working out there. I love a challenge and boxing is a challenge. Places to eat would be Catered Delight Kitchen in Winter Park. Chef Allman food is a 10/10. I’m a more chill vibe type of guy so places to go would definelty be New Syrmna Beach or Clearwater, Citywalk Universal, Sunday Funday Downtown, I-Drive area, and honestly anywhere outdoors with a wine cooler.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shout to my mother Lenelle Howell, my inspiration in taking an entrepreneurial route. I wouldn’t have the drive or passion to be successful it wasn’t for her sacrifices she made for me and my brother. I also want to recognize my family as a whole who have supported my business since the start of my journey in 2017. Lastly, a big shoutout to my mentors Jessica and Sam who have helped me grow has a business person.
