We had the good fortune of connecting with Tisha Ayers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, I didn’t know this endeavor was going to be a business. My husband and I were just mixing together ingredients in our kitchen in the hopes of finding a solution to my increasingly dry and itchy skin. It wasn’t until we received positive feedback from family and friends that we thought about turning it into a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business, Cashmere Moon, is an offspring from a business we started first, Elements Bath & Body Care. I took the lessons, failures, and mistakes that I learned from Elements and applied them for Cashmere Moon. Because of this, early on we were able to secure partnerships with one of the largest retailers, JC Penney, through a partnership with Thirteen Lune.

Our products are natural, vegan, and efficient. Our sustainability efforts are untouched as I have researched extensively about ways to produce and ship beauty products without harming Mother Nature.

Cashmere Moon first launched June 1, 2021 and over the past few years there have been some great times, but there have also been times when I thought we would have to close the business due to lack of capital. Running a business is not for the faint of heart and requires a lot of time and effort, but in the end, I believe it’s worth it to grow something from scratch that is helping people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting the area, I would first take them to our retail space. I would show the our curated collection of beauty and wellness products that we have in-stock from small business owners all around the nation in addition to our own collection of Cashmere Moon products. I would then show them our Wellness Studio, which is attached to the retail space and offers a variety of classes like pilates, yoga and dance fitness, in addition to workshops that focus on bettering one’s well-being like self-defense and candle-making.

After all that, we would probably be hungry so I would take them to Curry Hut. It’s one of my favorite Indian restaurants and has a few vegan options to choose from like the lentils, which are my fave.

For dessert, we would have to stop by Arie’s Confectionaries for some of their delicious vegan cheesecake – the key lime is A1 and it’s right next door to our Cashmere Moon retail space!

For drinks, we would go to Vance’s Dessert Bar for great vibes and delicious drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I would give credit to God! He has worked through me from the beginning and has guided my footsteps. I would also give credit to my husband. He’s been such a rock and a strong support for me. There have been times when I wanted to give up but he was there to motivate me. My mom has also been a sense of support for me. She’s believed in my vision from day 1 and hasn’t wavered in her support for our business, even in the roughest of times. My sisters, Katrina and Erica, have been there to help bottle and label creams when I was unable to hire any assistance – and they did it with a smile. I will always love them for that. And they continue to help out when needed.
