We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my art/ my photography to make an impact, to inspire people to embrace their imaginations and who knows, maybe even start their own creative journey.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a photographer specialized in helping cosplayers bring their favorite characters to life through the images I take. I take a bit pride in my editing process and color grading; particularly in the way I feel like my colors add to the narrative and I hope that the love I put into each images shines through. It was definitely long journey getting to where I am today. Lots of trials and error in order to find my own style and putting myself out there. Freelance photography can be exhausting in a way. Asides from taking the shots and editing, you have to be your own marketing team. I’ve come a long way since I first started at 17 years old and I’m proud of where I am now.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is incredibly tough as I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support of my family, friends and mentors. I’m grateful for everyone but I definitely have to give the biggest shoutout to my sister – who has been my biggest supporter since day one. She encouraged me to pursue a creative career, gave me all the motivations I needed whenever I doubt myself, and even took on the role of being my chauffeur whenever I needed a ride for a photoshoot far away from home. She’s truly the best!
