Meet Tiana Moore | Spa Owner & Beauty Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business? My name is Tiana Moore— Serial entrepreneur, 5-Year Experienced Beauty & Wellness Studio owner, Non-invasive Weight-loss Advisor & Master Beauty Educator & Mentor. I am the owner of Winxx Lash Products ™ AND the 1st & ONLY Beauty & Wellness Studio in Millbrook, Winxx & Tweaks Studio, where me & my team have had the pleasure of offering an array of non-invasive beauty enhancements to 900+ women. In addition to services, I’ve had the pleasure of helping young women follow their dreams of becoming spa professionals by offering lash extension, brow & body contouring courses.
As a child, I always wanted to have a career in the beauty industry. I would literally polish all of my family members and friend’s nails and toes— I was actually really good at it. At the time I started my business, I was a nursing student in Montgomery, working at a local hospital making just a little over minimum wage. With being a full time student, finding time to work while trying to concentrate on my studies was very challenging. It was so challenging that it started to make me reevaluate everything that I thought I wanted in life. I knew I had a desire deep down to change career paths; I wanted to mix medical with beauty. One day it just hit me and I said to myself “something has got to change”. Feeling overworked and underpaid, I spent my last $500 in my savings account to invest in a lash extension class in Atlanta. In my heart I knew if I could believe in myself and master the skill, I would be steps closer having my own spa. I just had to give myself the push.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others? Starting my own business was pretty hard. I started by spending my last $500 I had on a lash extension class. A few months after, I acquired my certification in semipermanent makeup and in non-invasive body contouring, which I once again went broke to fund. As far as financial support for my business, I didn’t have it. But I think that’s what makes it all worth it; it’s the sense of independency in knowing you achieved your goal by yourself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to Itta Bena for dinner! It’s such an elegant restaurant with excellent food. I would also take a visit to the riverfront and downtown. As far as hookahs and drinks, I’d definitely have to pay Hookah House a visit!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to dedicate my shoutout to my mentor, Candace Holyfield, founder of the biggest black spa community in the world, Spa Boss Tribe! There’s no way I would be where I am now in the spa industry without their continued support!
